4 Ways to Celebrate National Puzzle Day

4 Ways to Celebrate National Puzzle Day

We have some very exciting news to share: January 29th is National Puzzle Day! And while it’s (sadly) not recognized as an official holiday, there’s still plenty of cheer to go around.

If you haven’t already set aside some time to celebrate, here are four ideas for you and your family.

1. Plan a Family Puzzle Night

Jigsaw puzzles are a fantastic activity for the whole family. They’re a way for everyone to get together and slow the pace of what’s often a hectic family life. If you want to plan a puzzle night, there are a few ways to do it!

One option is to pick one puzzle and have everyone work on it together. This way, each person can go through their own process while also contributing to the whole. Sometimes, however, it can help to give each person their own puzzle for individual challenges. Each family member can take the night at their own pace, or pop over to someone else if they want to change it up!

For some extra fun, give your puzzle night a theme! For example, if you spend a day at the beach, come back to a beach puzzle at night!

Or, do a puzzle around a favorite movie character! When you’re done, you can watch the movie together.

2. Challenge Yourself With a Higher Piece Count

Sometimes, we get comfortable at a certain puzzle level. It can be relaxing when you don’t have to strategize on how to put something together, and it’s frustrating when you don’t know how to finish a puzzle.

National Puzzle Day is the perfect excuse to step up your jigsaw game.
Take it up one step, or three! If you’re doing 550 piece puzzles, explore 1,000 or 1,500 counts.

3. Mount and Frame a Puzzle for the First Time

While we love the process of putting together a puzzle, there’s no better way to appreciate your hard work than to preserve and hang it in your home! Puzzle images are already fantastic pieces of art, from classic scenes of Americana to wonderous Thomas Kinkade landscapes.

Mounting and framing a puzzle is an easy process that only needs a quick trip to a local hardware store to prepare. You’ll need craft glue, foam board, a frame, and a clear space to work.

If you want a step-by-step breakdown of the process — from what glue to use to how to place it on the mounting board — check out our gluing, mounting, and framing guide!

4. Treat Yourself

Puzzles are fantastic, unique gifts that can be enjoyed many times. But, National Puzzle Day is as good an excuse as any to treat yourself to something new. We’re celebrating too — use the code PUZZLEDAY to take 20% off all orders between now and January 31st!

There’s no end to the puzzles that you can choose from, in a variety of different themes! Spend time appreciating classic puzzles in our Nostalgia Collection, or indulge in your love for creatures of all kinds in our Animal Collection.

No matter what how you celebrate, we look forward to another great year of puzzling!
