Kentaro Nishino
In 1980, Kentaro was born in a beautiful, ancient city in Kanazawa Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. His father being a mountaineer, Kentaro has joined his father in climbing a good number of mountains, and since early childhood has seen many animals and beautiful landscapes. It is these experiences that have left an indelible mark on his vision of life.
At the age of twenty-one he moved to Oahu to study at the University of Hawaii. Hawaii, being a place of stunning natural beauty, Kentaro found himself inspired by the clarity of light and vividness of colors. He claims this as of the origin of his artistic style and these elements have now become endless inspiration for his artistic spirit.
After his studies in Hawaii, Kentaro moved to San Francisco where he graduated in 2003 from the Academy of Arts University with a degree in Arts Illustration.
Kentaro has had many one-man and group exhibits in places like Tokyo, New York, San Francisco, Melbourne, and Sydney. In 2004 he received the "Semi-Grand Prix" award in the second annual Japan Art Academy Awards, which is one of Japan's largest competitions. Active in the artistic community, Kentaro has been a member of the organization, Artists for Conservation since 2006.
Nature is the subject of Kentaro's art. It is also the source of his inspiration for colors and ideas. His images on a canvas express the beauty and power of nature, viewed through his eye and imagination. He claims to be a messenger between humans and nature.
Kentaro wants people to notice the things he paints. He speaks on his canvas with emphasis, to make a point, to communicate a thought. However, the story is unfinished. He wants the viewer to provide their own essence to complete his art.
